History
As Apple ramps it products lines to more portable (iPhone) and home consumer electronics, and to fall in compliance with Apples' global trademarks, we changed our name from iPodWorld to iGear on 10th January 2007.
iGear traded formerly in 2006 as iPodWorld and achieved phenomenal success and customer satisfaction. On 2nd January 2007 private investors acquired 33% of our company to provide funds to take it to the next level and grow with the expanding Apple consumer and home electronics strategy under the iGear brand.
We at iGear are committed to bringing the South African consumer fantastic iPod products and accessories at low, low prices. We have recently travelled extensively overseas to identify new products, trends and establish new partnerships with some of the world's largest manufacturers and distributors of generic and original iPod accessories.
We currently have over 350 different products on offer, many well known brand names complete our store offerings. We only sell Genuine Apple products on our site. This makes us the largest iPod-only accessory shop in Africa.
Unlike most on-line shops in SA these days that don't carry stock and make you wait 7-10 days fro your goods, we carry over R1 million in stock to ensure you receive your goods as soon as possible.

Although we are a relatively young company, having started in January 2006, we have over 20,000 customers, who have purchased from us already and 30,000 people registered on our web site.
We pride ourselves on fast, friendly and helpful service and even though we are an on-line-only company, we believe the telephone is important when communicating with clients. Specialisation
We believe that, due to the new, technical and sometimes confusing nature of iPod accessories, we would be able to offer better service to clients by offering a dedicated one-stop-shop for all iPods and accessories. Trying to extract iPod related information from a representative at a big brand store, that sells all sorts of other things, is just not an option for our customers and that is where we make the difference. This is ALL we do for a living - all day and every day!
Unique Products
From time to time we bring in some very unique products to South Africa . For example, we introduced the first and currently still the only Black Multimedia Docking station into South Africa for some 50% less than currently available at the Apple outlets. We also carry the only in-car docking/charging FM transmitter cradle, designed specifically for the hugely popular iPod Nano. We have also recently introduced a range of commercial software and utilities for iPods, which is a first in this country.
Stock Availability and Shipping
We carry stock for most of the items we advertise, which ensures fast delivery. However from time to time our stock runs out and lead times may extend by 1-4 weeks. If you are eager to buy, but concerned by stock availability, then email us and we will give you an instant reply on availability of stock. iPodWorld uses Speed Services and the SA Post Office to deliver your goods to you. All items shipped are provided with tracking numbers. Make your shipping choice at the time of your order.
Warranty
Note that we import our iPods directly to bring you competitive prices and as such are not an official Apple reseller. For this reason the products' warranty is carried with ourselves and not the local Apple stores. We support the warranty ourselves for all the products we sell - please read about our superior market leading Warranty.
