A lot of the iPhones on the market in South Africa are either jail-broken, hacked or require a turbo-sim for the phone to work correctly. Another large percentage of the iPhones require a specific sim card from a certain cell phone provider for the phone to be activated. This activation is required for a new iPhone as well as after some software, firmware or carrier/baseband changes.
